K-drama fans have much to look forward to this May as a variety of new series are set to premiere—ranging from romance and comedy to action and historical drama. Based on a report from Korean media outlet Soompi, here’s a glimpse at five diverse K-dramas releasing this month:
1. Spring of Youth
The story follows Sa Giye, a young singer who is removed from a popular K-pop band. Later, he enrolls in college, where he meets a girl named Kim Beom. The two fall in love, and together they form a new band, helping Sa Giye rediscover the meaning of life. The drama stars Ha Yoon Jun and Park Ji Hoo. It began airing on SBS from May 6 and is also available on Viki.
2. Tastefully Yours
Set around a restaurant, this drama tells the love story between a wealthy heir, Han Byum Woo, and a talented chef, Mo Yeon Joo. The series features Kang Ha Neul, Go Min Si, and Kim Shin Rok in lead roles. It premieres on ENA on May 12.
3. Second Shot at Love
This romantic comedy follows Han Gyum Joo, a heavy drinker, who unexpectedly runs into his first love. Old emotions are rekindled, leading to an engaging and heartwarming tale. The series stars Sooyoung and Gong Myung, and it will air on tvN from May 12.
4. Shark: The Storm
A sequel to Shark: The Beginning, this action-packed series focuses on Cha Woo Sol’s life after being released from prison. It stars Kim Min Seok and Lee Hyun Wook among others. The series will be available on TVING starting May 15.
5. Dear Hong Rang
Set in the historical Joseon era, this romantic drama centers on the return of a long-lost royal child who has lost all memories of his past. The mystery surrounding his identity unfolds as the story progresses. Lee Jae Wook and Jo Bo Ah take on the lead roles. The series premieres on Netflix on May 16.
