The Actors’ Association of Bangladesh has elected a new leadership for a three-year term, with noted actor and director Azad Abul Kalam securing the presidency with 310 votes. Rashed Mamun Apu was elected as the general secretary, receiving the highest number of votes at 367.
The results were officially announced on Saturday at 8:30 PM by election commissioners Naresh Bhuiyan and Faruk Ahmed, in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Khairul Alam Sabuj and other officials.

Additionally, Muhammad Nur-e-Alam (Treasurer) and Masud Alam Tanvir (Office Secretary) were elected unopposed.
For the executive member positions, the winners are: Emran Hossain, Zulfikar Chanchal, Shiuli Akter, Enayet Ullah Sayed, Abu Rofa Md. Naeem, Rezaul Raju, and Tuhin Chowdhury.
The election took place on Saturday at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, turning the venue into a star-studded gathering. From 9 AM to 5 PM, actors from different generations cast their votes in a festive, celebratory atmosphere. Despite a slower turnout in the morning, participation increased as the day progressed, with senior and young artists alike engaging actively.
Out of 699 registered voters, 40 candidates contested for 21 posts in this triennial election. The event not only marked a democratic exercise but also a rare occasion of bonding, conversations, and camaraderie among Bangladesh’s acting fraternity.
The 2025-2028 leadership of the Actors’ Association now embarks on a new journey, reflecting both experience and fresh energy within the entertainment industry.
