Actress Chitrangda Singh, who recently impressed audiences with her performance in Neeraj Pandey’s series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, has long been a familiar face in Hindi films and web series. Now, she has expressed her keen interest in playing the legendary actress Smita Patil in a biopic.
According to Indian news outlet Aajkal Dawnin, Chitrangda recently revealed this wish candidly in an interview. She shared that ever since her debut in Bollywood, many people have drawn comparisons between her and the late Smita Patil—not only in terms of acting talent but also due to striking similarities in their physical features. Chitrangda stated, “I feel flattered when people say I resemble Smita Patil. Keeping her legacy in mind, I always strive to do better work. I’ve been an admirer of her artistry for a long time. If I ever get the chance to portray her life on screen, I would never let it pass. I’m eagerly waiting to hear an official announcement from any filmmaker about a biopic on her.”
Smita Patil remains an unforgettable name in Bollywood, even decades after her untimely death. Her life was filled with turbulence and emotional complexities—from her controversial relationship with actor-politician Raj Babbar to the sacrifices she made in her personal life. Tragically, she passed away just days after giving birth to her son, actor Prateik Babbar.
Chitrangda’s heartfelt admiration for the iconic actress adds weight to the possibility that she could one day bring Smita Patil’s powerful story to life on the big screen.
