Last December, it won the Best Film Award at the country’s most prestigious festival—the Dhaka International Film Festival. Now, another achievement has been added to its accolades.
Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury recently shared the exciting news on Facebook: Priyo Maloti has won the Audience Award at the 8th London Bengali Film Festival. Expressing her joy, the actress mentioned how thrilled she is with the recognition.
The film’s director, Shankha Dashgupta, also announced the news through a social media post, writing: “With great joy, I share that Priyo Maloti has won the Audience Award at the London Bengali Film Festival. Grateful to everyone who believed in our story.” Mehazabien reshared this post, spreading the celebration among her followers, who responded with praise and well wishes.
In a statement to the media, Mehazabien said, “After going through many hardships, I’ve reached this point. I’m celebrating this success with Rajib (director Adnan Al Rajib). It’s truly hard to express this feeling in words.”
The London Bengali Film Festival was held from April 22 to 27, and Priyo Maloti reportedly received an overwhelming response from the audience there. Prior to this, the film was also screened at the Cairo International Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India in Goa, where it was similarly well received.
